Registration Policy

Finding a GP practice that feels like the right fit is an important step in managing your health. We aim to make joining our patient list as simple and welcoming as possible, ensuring you can access the care you need without unnecessary delay.

Registering with the Practice

In Scotland, anyone—including overseas visitors—can access primary medical services at a GP practice free of charge. You do not need to provide proof of address or immigration status to register; however, providing documentation helps us ensure your medical records are located and transferred accurately from your previous surgery.

Recommended Documentation

To help us match your details with the NHS Scotland central database and ensure your medical history moves with you, we kindly ask that you provide two forms of identification if possible:

  • One Photographic ID: Such as a valid passport, driving licence, official public services ID card, or a current student matriculation card.
  • One Proof of Address: Such as a utility bill or bank statement (dated within the last 3 months), a Council Tax document, a television licence, or a formal tenancy agreement.

If you do not have photographic ID, we can accept other documents such as a birth, marriage, or civil partnership certificate alongside proof of your current address.

What if I don’t have these documents?

Please do not worry if you cannot produce these documents. We will still register you.

In these cases, we may need to contact the local Health Board registration department to verify your details manually. This prevents duplicate records and ensures we receive your correct medical history. We will always ask for your consent before contacting them or storing copies of your ID in your electronic patient record.

How to Register

You can register by visiting our reception desk to collect a registration pack or by completing the national registration form online via NHS Inform.

Our registration processes comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ensuring your personal information is handled securely and used only for your healthcare needs.
