The ACP (Advanced Clinical Practitioner) is a skilled, experienced clinician who is able to consult on a wide range of medical conditions, prescribe medication, order clinical tests and refer to hospital specialists.

ACPs are educated to masters level and have developed the skills and knowledge to allow them to take on expanded roles and scope of practice.

They usually work at the level of a middle-grade doctor and their practice is characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision-making.
