Our appointments system is designed to offer you a range of options in accessing our services:
- Early Morning: 07:00 - 08:00 pre-bookable 8 weeks in advance.
- Routine Appointments: Daily pre-bookable 8 weeks in advance.
- Same-day Appointments: Each morning our system offers appointments to meet daily demand. From 08:00 onwards, please call 0131 537 4407 or book at reception desk.
- Emergency - Duty doctor: Each day we operate an emergency surgery for symptoms that cannot wait until the next available routine appointment. Please be aware that our receptionist will need details of your emergency to allow the doctor to prioritise the surgery.
A 5 minute appointment in our drop-in surgery between 08:30 - 10:00 is provided Monday to Friday. This will be a first-come first-served system so please be prepared to wait your turn. You will be asked for a brief description of your symptoms at time of booking. This service is for a 5 minute appointment to discuss one medical issue only.
This surgery is not pre-bookable.
Rather than wait in a queue at the reception desk, patients who only require to check-in for an appointment with a GP, nurse or phlebotomist can use our self check-in screen located to the left of the reception desk. Follow the blue footprints on the surgery floor to take you to the self-check-in machine.
It is the responsibility of the patient to check in for all appointments.
Please check in at reception or use the self check-in machine.
If you fail to check-in this may result in you not being seen.
Each day we offer telephone consultations with a doctor. Please call 0131 537 4407 or book at reception desk. You will be asked for a brief description of your symptoms/reason for call at time of booking and please ensure you can take the call at the time given by reception.
Appointments may be booked up to 8 weeks in advance for a doctor, practice nurse or phlebotomist. Please call 0131 537 4407 or book at reception desk.
If you are still sitting in the waiting room 20 minutes after your appointment time, please speak to reception. Sometimes the doctor is running late as he or she has had to deal with problems that take up more than the allotted appointment time. Sometimes mistakes are made, so please, speak to us and do not wait too long before asking for an explanation.
If you feel it is appropriate, you may ask your doctor for a chaperone to be present during your consultation or examination.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
